Greg Kelly: My Story of Unexplained Weight Gain & What I Learned Was Actually Happening

The Skinny Center, Westchester number one Weight and Aesthetic Center, continues its partnership with 77 WABC talk Radio host Greg Kelly. Kelly has been sharing his incredible weight loss journey on his show as well as online through The Skinny Center website and social media. Greg details his of unexplained Weight Gain and what was actually happening to his body.

Greg Kelly explains:
“It began three years ago. Over the course of a year, I gained 22 pounds. I hadn’t changed my diet or workout routine. I had always had genetically elevated cholesterol, but it began to rise even higher as my weight increased.

This was made even stranger by the fact that I was still going to the gym three to four times a week and watching what I ate. There was no obvious reason why I should be gaining weight.

Every year at my annual physical, my doctor performed standard blood tests and told me the same thing: you need to exercise more and eat less. He blamed my rising cholesterol on my weight gain, assuming that poor diet and lack of exercise were to blame.

My wife and I began investigating, but we couldn’t figure out what was going on. I tried various diets, and while my weight eventually plateaued, my cholesterol and blood pressure continued to rise year after year. My doctor’s basic blood tests did not provide them with a complete picture. Something else had to be going on.

In September of this year, one of my good friends and coworker at WABC suggested I go to The Skinny Center up in Westchester County. He then introduced me to Mitch Suss, CEO and Founder of The Skinny Center.

The Skinny Center ran extensive lab and blood tests, which revealed an elevated TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) level. Their medical staff advised me to take specific supplements for my high cholesterol levels. My results were off after additional thyroid tests that my previous doctors had not performed, so I was prescribed thyroid medication to bring my levels back down.

My TSH level dropped to the low-risk range two months after I began taking thyroid medication, and I was finally able to lose the weight I had gained. Within a few months, my cholesterol levels had returned to normal and my blood pressure had been reduced. All of these things will contribute to my staying healthier for a longer period of time, and I owe it all to The Skinny Center.

Today I don’t worry about exercising and watching my diet obsessively. I lost all the weight I gained, and I am enjoying my life more than ever. It’s nice to not feel like I have to be constantly worried about my weight and health.”
